About Swoan Parker, Visual Journalist
Swoan Parker is an American photographer, native of New York and prior service member of the United States Marine Corps.
It was Swoan's travels to the continents of Europe and Asia where she first discovered the power behind the still image. She later became self taught in the education of photography. Her curiosity in human nature is what motivates her.
In 2009 her travels took her to India where she shifted her focus to telling stories, primarily pursuing personal projects and human-interest issues.
Since 2010 Swoan’s work has been focused on conflict and social issues.
Her photographs have been exhibited in “Visa Pour L’Image” in Perpignan 2011 and are part of a documentary series entitled “Refondasyon” produced for the Government of Haiti 2011.
Her work has appeared in publications worldwide, including Le Figaro Magazine, Paris Match, National Geographic Traveler, MSNBC, Time.com, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, ABC World News, USA Today, The Los Angeles Times, Newsweek Japan, The Globe and Mail and Telegraph Magazine to name a few.
Swoan is currently based in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. She is available for assignment worldwide.
